Modern Nordic ceramics and glass

At KLASSIK, you will find an ever-changing selection of original ceramics and glass from the 20th century. The collection includes vases, bowls, dishes, figures and sculptural objects in stoneware, porcelain and art glass.

We focus particularly on Danish and Scandinavian decorative arts from the period spanning approximately 1920 to 1980. Each work is selected with a focus on authenticity, quality, condition and significance in art history.

Danish ceramics and stoneware

Danish ceramics from the 20th century are renowned for their strong interplay between form, material and glaze. Ceramic artists such as Axel Salto and Arne Bang created works that bridge functional decorative art and sculpture.

Axel Salto’s organic, fluted, budding and sprouting forms are regarded as highlights of modern Danish ceramics. Explore our dedicated selection of ceramics by Axel Salto.

The collection may also include works by Nils Thorsson, Jais Nielsen, Gertrud Vasegaard, Nathalie Krebs and Gutte Eriksen, as well as ceramics from Royal Copenhagen, Bing & Grøndahl, Saxbo and Kähler.

Danish and Scandinavian art glass

Our glass collection includes mouth-blown vases, bowls, dishes and decorative glass objects. Per Lütken was one of Denmark’s most important glass artists and created numerous distinctive works during his time at Holmegaard.

The collection may also include glass by Jacob E. Bang, Michael Bang, Per Lütken, Nanny Still, Gunnel Nyman and other Nordic designers, as well as works from glassworks such as Holmegaard, Orrefors, Kosta Boda and Riihimäki.

Original decorative arts with individual details

Older ceramics and glass may feature natural variations, traces of the production process and patina from use. Signatures, model numbers, manufacturer’s marks and glazes can vary from one work to another and form an important part of the object’s history.

On each product page, you will find information about the artist, manufacturer, materials, dimensions, markings and condition. Many works are available as one-of-a-kind pieces.
