A desk with more than 50 years of cultural history in its legs must be the ultimate inspiration. To work at an icon that the furniture architects from the golden era of Danish design history have conceived, measured and tested themselves. In this category you can embark on desks with or without drawers, but with plenty of loving details for the watchful eye. Which desk would you prefer to sit at?

Original desks in Danish design

At KLASSIK, you will find an ever-changing selection of original and pre-owned desks from the 20th century. The collection ranges from smaller writing desks and worktables to large freestanding executive desks with drawers and storage.

Since 1991, we have specialised in original pre-owned designer furniture from the period spanning approximately 1920 to 1980. Each desk is selected with a focus on authenticity, construction, materials, condition and significance in design history.

Vintage desks by Danish designers

Danish designer desks are characterised by fine craftsmanship, functional details and carefully considered forms. Many models were designed to stand freely within a room and therefore feature beautifully finished backs with shelves, doors or open compartments.

Our selection may include vintage desks designed by Finn Juhl, Børge Mogensen, Hans J. Wegner, Arne Vodder, Kaare Klint and Peder Moos.

The desks may have been made by renowned manufacturers and cabinetmakers such as Rud. Rasmussen, Fritz Hansen, Johannes Hansen, Niels Vodder, Søborg Møbelfabrik and Cado.

Wooden desks with original patina

Many classic desks are crafted from oak, teak, rosewood or mahogany. The grain of the wood, cabinetmaking details and proportions of the desk are essential to the overall expression of the piece.

Some pre-owned desks are preserved in their original condition, with natural patina and traces of age and use. Others have been carefully restored in KLASSIK’s own cabinetmaking workshop, with respect for the original construction and finish.

Find the right designer desk

When choosing a vintage desk, it is worth considering its dimensions, working height, legroom and the need for drawers or other storage. If the desk will stand freely within the room, the design of the back may also be important.

On each product page, you will find information about the designer, manufacturer, materials, dimensions and condition. As these are original desks, many models are available as one-of-a-kind pieces.
